DSHS Dance Classes

In addition to the Hi-Stepper and Dazzler Dance Teams, Dripping Springs High School also provides dance classes for fine arts education to all high school students. The classes below are open enrollment, no audition required.

DANCE 1-4

Dance is a course designed to teach students the skills involved in a variety of dance techniques. This course satisfies the physical education or Fine Arts graduation credit requirement. Dance is an elective course open to all students. No previous dance experience is required for Dance I. The purpose of this course is to give students of varying dance abilities and experience the opportunity to enrich their kinesthetic awareness by learning several genres of dance (ballet, jazz, hip-hop, modern, social and cultural dance) as well as learning the anatomy of the human body, basic fitness principles, the history of dance, dance terminology, and principles of choreography.

dance for athletes

Students must be a part of a DSHS athletic team in order to take this class.

This course will provide athletes with fundamental skills and knowledge of dance as an art form and lifetime activity, with a specific emphasis on areas that will improve their athletic ability. The course is open to 9th - 12th grade students. Students will study various forms of dance such as ballet, jazz, modern, hip hop, and social dance, as well as broader aspects of dance such as injury prevention, stretching, and building muscle tone. This course will help to increase flexibility, balance, explosiveness, and agility in athletes. (Fine Arts or Elective Credit)

Unified Dance

In Unified Dance 1-4, students will enhance their dance skills while taking on leadership roles to mentor peers with varying skill levels and abilities. This course is designed for individuals passionate about dance and dedicated to guiding and supporting others. Students will assist in various aspects of the dance process, including helping with stretches, dance techniques, and choreography. This class promotes the development of leadership skills and empowers all students, fostering an inclusive environment in the classroom and throughout the school.

MIDDLE SCHOOL DANCE

We are proud to support dance education in our younger students at both Dripping Springs middle schools through the Sycamore Springs Tiger Belles and the Dripping Springs Tigerettes, as well as dance classes offered at both middle schools. Both Middle School Dance Teams are invited to perform alongside the Hi-Steppers and Dazzlers at a Varsity Football game every fall and at the Hi-Stepper Spring Show each April.
